Mercedes-Benz UK chooses Pod as its sole home EV charging partner
Flexible payment routes, powerful tariff savings and a customer-first approach made Pod the natural fit, with an exclusive home charging discount available to all Mercedes-Benz customers
Pod has been appointed by Mercedes-Benz UK as its sole home charging partner, marking a significant milestone in a strategic relationship that's been strengthening over several years.
At the heart of the offering is the award-winning Solo 3S home charger, accompanied by access to the exclusive Pod Power by EDF tariff and Pod Rewards programme, enhancing the cost savings of going electric in a way that’s seamless and simple. Over 300,000 customers trust Pod to power their EVs, with now over 30,000 Trustpilot reviews and an ‘Excellent’ score of 4.5.
Through the partnership, Mercedes-Benz customers get £250 off a Pod Point home charger with installation included, bringing the standard price of (an untethered) Pod Point Solo 3S from £999 down to £749. Alternatively, customers who'd rather pay nothing upfront can choose Pod's subscription option: the monthly price drops from £34 to £27 for a three-year term, with the typical £99 upfront installation fee waived entirely, saving drivers over £300 across the full term.
Once a charger is installed, Pod Power by EDF makes a real difference to running costs. Pod's exclusive two-rate tariff lets customers charge at just 6.49p/kWh during a seven-hour overnight window. For a Mercedes-Benz CLA owner, that means fully charging the car’s 85 kWh battery costs as little as £5.52, compared to £22.19 at standard energy rates. Over a year, that adds up to £345 in savings. Owners of the new Mercedes-Benz GLC 400 4MATIC, with its 94 kWh battery, could save £382 over a year.
All Pod customers can also earn up to £100 a year through Pod Rewards, its smart charging programme. Drivers set a target charge in the Pod Home app, and Pod handles the scheduling automatically, optimising it to avoid peak hours and make the most of renewable energy. Pod Rewards can be withdrawn as cash once users have £10 in their wallet.
Every Pod Point charger installed through this partnership comes with a five-year warranty as standard, for full peace of mind.
Val Geary, VP of Partnerships at Pod, said:
“Mercedes-Benz drivers know exactly what they want from their cars: performance, quality and a seamless experience. They should expect the same from their home charging. Pod has been working with Mercedes-Benz UK for a number of years but we're delighted to now become sole supplier, allowing us to support even more of their EV customers going forward with our award-winning charging solutions and customer service.”
Jason Allbutt, Sales Director at Mercedes-Benz Cars UK, said:
“With 140 years of history behind us, Mercedes-Benz has always been driven by innovation and a commitment to delivering the very best customer experience. Pod's appointment as our home EV charger supplier helps us provide a seamless and convenient charging solution for customers, making the transition to electric mobility easier and more accessible than ever."
The strengthened partnership and customer offer launches ahead of September's new car registration plates, with Mercedes-Benz showcasing a fresh lineup of electric models including the new GLB, GLC, and CLA Shooting Brake. Over 80% of EV charging happens at home, so for anyone switching to electric, getting a home charger installed before the car arrives is one of the best decisions a new EV driver can make.
