You're all set

Thanks for choosing Pod. Your charger is on its way to being fitted, and there’s very little for you to do between now and installation day. This guide covers the few small things worth sorting beforehand, and walks you through exactly what happens when your engineer arrives, so there are no surprises.

A standard install takes around two hours, and by the time your engineer leaves you’ll be ready to plug in and charge.

From order to installation

Here’s how the journey runs, so you know where you are and what’s coming next.

1. Pre-installation survey: You'll fill out a short survey. Tell us about your power supply, your parking, and where you'd like the charger to go. Give us as much detail as you can, and add photos where possible. This helps us check everything's ready and plan your install properly.

2. Review and schedule: We’ll check your survey and confirm your install. Around 90% of homes qualify for our Which? endorsed standard installation. If yours needs any extra work, we’ll talk it through with you first and share a no-obligation quote before anything’s booked.

3. Installation day: One of our expert engineers arrives at your agreed time, fits your charger, and shows you how everything works before they leave.

Getting ready for the day

A few small things make the install quick and easy. It’s worth sorting these before your engineer arrives:

  • Clear the area where you’d like your Pod Point charger fitted, so there’s room to work.
  • Make sure your fuse box is easy to reach, so the engineer can get to it without moving things around.
  • Have your Wi-Fi password handy, so your charger can connect and stay up to date with the latest smart features.
  • Download the Pod Home app and sign in before the engineer arrives, making sure you’ve completed all the onboarding steps in-app, so you’re ready to connect your charger straight away.

Tip: Make sure your chosen spot sits within range of your router, or a Wi-Fi extender. If your charger ever drops offline you’ll still be able to charge, you just won’t have the smart features until it reconnects.

On the day

Your installer will arrive within the agreed time window. A standard install takes around two hours. For non-standard installations, our team will advise you on what to expect.

At some point during the visit they’ll need to switch off your home’s power for up to an hour, so it’s worth planning around that. For example, charging your laptop, sorting anything that needs power, that sort of thing.

Once your charger is up and running, your engineer will walk you through how everything works and answer any questions before they go. And if anything changes on the day, they’ll be in touch.

That’s it. By the time they leave, you’ll be ready to plug in and charge.

Once you're up an running

Your Pod Home app is where you’ll manage everything day to day. You can schedule charging around a cheaper tariff, set a charge target or ready-by time, track your Pod Rewards, and use Boost for an instant top-up when you need it.

If you have any questions after your install, our Help Centre has answers to the most common ones, and our support team is available 24/7.
