Monitor your smart-charging
The App tells the charger when to charge to make the most of low-cost energy and keeps you up to date with everything. Just tell us when you want your EV to be charged by – for example, charge to 80% by 6am – and the App does the rest.

Withdraw miles payments
We add money to your wallet after every charge (up to your allowance). Withdraw it regularly (you can withdraw as soon as your balance is over £10) or save it up - it’s up to you. We pay it directly into your bank account when you withdraw.

You pay for your energy. We pay you for smart-charging. The end result? Your driving is covered.

Plug in regularly at home
We can add charge to your EV when low-cost energy is available (it’s not always at night).

Your energy provider
Your energy company supplies the electricity used to smart-charge your EV, so you pay your bill as usual. We support most of the energy tariffs on the market.

We pay you in cash
We pay at a standard rate of 2.3p per mile. That’s based on the average efficiency of an EV (3.5 miles per kWh) and a typical overnight rate of 8.05p per kWh. That’s £172.50 paid for 7,500 miles, or £115 for 5,000 miles. Many new EVs are even more efficient, so you’ll get more driving paid for.

Your allowance will be either 5,000 or 7,500 miles per year
Homes on newer energy setups get the higher rate. We’ll check that for you when you join, and we’ll upgrade you automatically when your supplier switches you over (thousands of homes a day are upgraded). Above your allowance we keep smart-charging you at the best rate available.
Your warranty
Our pioneering lifetime Repair/Replace/Recharge warranty ensures that you always have a charged-up EV.

Dedicated phone support
Call the wonderful Pod support team if you have any problems. Nine out of ten problems can be solved over the phone.

Repair
If we can’t solve the problem over the phone, we'll book one of our engineers to come out within the next 48 hours to try to repair it.

Replace
If there’s fault with the charger and they can’t repair it, they’ll replace it for a brand new one.

Recharge
If we can’t get to you within 48 hours we’ll pay for you to add your usual daily charge at a public charger until we get everything working, up to a maximum of £50.

Do I need a wifi connection?
To be eligible for Pod Drive you need to have a stable Wi-Fi connection. This is so we can ensure your car is always charged at the cheapest times, and to send any remote firmware updates to keep your charger up to date.

What is Smart Charging?
As the use of renewable energy in our energy system increases, we can help balance demands on the grid by adjusting energy usage to match the peaks and troughs of wind and solar generation.
All you have to do is plug in your car and we’ll do the rest - ensuring your car is always charged when your energy prices are cheapest.
Whenever you Smart Charge, you'll be using your Pod Drive inclusive miles allowance.

What if I want to charge straight away?
You can override any Smart Charging using our Boost feature, which will charge your car straight away.
Any charging sessions completed using the Boost feature aren't Smart Charged and therefore won’t use your Pod Drive inclusive miles allowance, and are not eligible for cashing out.

How do I schedule my charging?
Simply set the time of day when you’d like your vehicle charged by, and what % you want your battery to be charged to when you first set up your app. You can always change these settings whenever you need to. Every time you plug in, we'll automatically work-out the cheapest time to charge your car, based on your energy tariff, to make sure it’s ready for when you need it.
We connect to your car automatically and calculate how much energy is needed to ensure you reach the charge target set in your car manufacturers app.

How does charging work if I’m on an off-peak tariff?
If you're on an off-peak tariff, we'll only charge your car at off-peak times when your energy is cheapest.
When you sign up to Pod Drive we'll ask your preference on whether you prefer to only charge at cheap times, or whether charging to your desired battery amount is more important.
When you plug in your vehicle, we’ll work out if we will meet your target battery percentage in your cheap off-peak period. If we can’t meet your target, you will get a notification in our app.

What type of energy tariff do I need to be on?
We currently support all single or two rate energy tariffs. If you are on a Smart Tariff such as Intelligent Octopus Go, Octopus Intelligent Drive Pack, Octopus Agile, OVO Charge Anytime, Scottish Power EV Optimise, or other similar smart electricity tariff that is not a single rate or two-rate tariff, then unfortunately you can’t subscribe.

How do inclusive miles work?
As part of your subscription you will be given an annual inclusive miles allowance. This allowance starts from the day your Pod Point is installed.
Each time you successfully complete a Smart Charge, you will use miles from your allowance. Miles used can be tracked in our app in your Wallet and withdrawn to your bank account once your balance is above £10.
You will still need to pay your energy supplier for your electricity as normal.
Each Inclusive Mile is based on an EV achieving 3.5 miles per kWh and charging with an off-peak rate of 8.05p per kWh - equivalent to 2.3 pence per mile.

What happens when I use up my inclusive miles allowance?
You will still be able to charge your vehicle if you've used all of your inclusive miles allowance within a 12 month period. You won't receive any further cash rewards during that time. Your inclusive miles allowance will reset again on the anniversary of your Pod Point being installed.

Can I charge multiple vehicles?
Yes. There is no limit to the number of cars you can add.

Can anyone use my inclusive miles allowance?
Yes they can. They will need to connect their vehicle to your app, enabling us to Smart Charge that vehicle.

How does the Lifetime Warranty work?
If you're having issues with your charger, give us a call on 0207 247 4114. 9 out of 10 issues can be fixed remotely to get you back up and running. Failing this, if it's a problem with our charger or it's installation, once we have diagnosed the issue, if needed, we'll book one of trusted engineers to come and fix the problem within 48 hours, for as long as your subscribing to Pod Drive.
