Eden at Pod

Tending our own garden, and scattering seeds further afield

Our programme to help drive positive societal change.

What is Eden at Pod?

Pod helps over 300,000 customers charge their EVs and travel easily and affordably, in line with our company purpose to ‘power the life we love, without costing the Earth’, but our ambitions go further than the switch to EVs and electric living.

Looking to tackle head-on the systemic challenges facing society today, we have started to build Eden at Pod, a new programme providing real support towards the causes we care most about - building a representative workforce, helping our people to thrive through progressive policies and allowing the communities we operate in to grow stronger.

From creating safe and supportive spaces for women that set them up to succeed, to creating clear and meaningful routes into the world of work for young people, Pod is a business that looks to give back and create opportunities for all.

Eden is our commitment to becoming the kind of organisation most businesses talk about, but few actually become. It is not merely a CSR programme or a values statement, it is core to who we are and our business strategy. This is a long-term commitment, and we're only just getting started. Within the next three years we'll track progress in the same way as all our key company measures and in the meantime we'll share regular updates on what we're building.

The four beliefs that underpin everything

People do life at work

Work is not separate from life. Organisations that design around the whole person are more productive, more innovative and more resilient

There is a better way of doing business

The choice between extractive capitalism and performative purpose is a false one. A third path holds people, profit and planet in genuine balance. The better way is also the smarter way

Business, government and communities must work together for sustainable social change

No single institution will solve the care deficit, the productivity gap or the inequality of opportunity that defines modern Britain. Every institution must do its part, hence every pillar has both an internal practice and an external reach.

All external change starts
with inner change

Organisations and individuals cannot give what they do not have. We start with the conditions for thriving, not just surviving. And build practical support on top of that foundation.

Six commitments

We recognise a number of systemic challenges facing society today. As a company operating in, and benefiting from, society we want to be part of the solution. We have identified six specific societal challenges and for each a Pod response. Each commitment has a documented case for why this matters and why it is an organisational failure, not an individual one, to ignore it.

We’re on a three-year journey to build the first phase of Eden and by 2028 we will measuring our progress against each of these key pillars.

A collaborative programme

A collaborative programme

Eden at Pod is explicitly designed to be shared. Every pillar is developed in partnership with organisations whose work connects to ours - because community building is not a solo act, and because the credibility of what we do externally depends entirely on the integrity of what we do internally.

A healthy organisation grows from the inside out. Through the lives of our employees, through using our voice to amplify an issue, and through partnership, collaboration and investment.

We are only in the early stages of building Eden, so that we have the right frameworks in place and assembled the necessary partner network to really ramp up activity in the coming years. Watch this space, there is lots more to come. We’ll share examples of our Eden work on this page as we grow the programme.
