Pod offers home EV charging with no upfront cost, through Pod Drive subscription promotion
As new ‘26 registration plates drive EV demand, Pod’s limited time offer gives drivers a way to charge at home for just £40 a month and no set-up fee
Pod today shares a new promotion for Pod Drive, its home EV charging subscription, removing the usual £99 upfront fee, to coincide with the introduction of ’26 vehicle registration plates.
New customers can now join Pod Drive and get a complete home EV charging solution with no upfront costs, just a simple £40 monthly subscription for a three-year term. The timing aligns with one of the busiest car-buying periods of the year, when drivers are actively ordering and taking deliveries of new EV models and looking for a worry-free way to charge them at home.
Pod Drive is designed to remove cost and complexity from home EV charging. For a simple, fixed monthly payment, customers get an award-winning Pod Point home EV charger, then get Which? accredited installation and up to £170 a year in required.*
Pod Drive includes:
- No upfront costs during the promotion: The £99 set-up fee is removed, leaving customers to pay just £40 a month for three years
- Hassle-free home charging: Charger, installation and ongoing support
- Smart charging: Subscribers simply plug in, set a target charge and let Pod do the rest**, earning them up to £170 a year in cash rewards and tapping into off-peak energy rates to help keep driving costs low
- Long-term value: Customers have peace of mind knowing they keep the charger at the end of the subscription term
Debbie Foley, Chief Revenue Officer at Pod, said:
“Going electric will be front of mind for UK drivers as new ‘26 registration plates hit the roads, tempting many to take advantage of the Electric Car Grant and buy their first EV. For anyone that’s thinking of making the switch but questions the costs of buying a home charger, our Pod Drive promotion is the perfect solution - giving drivers an easy and affordable charging solution from day one.”
Pod has recently launched exclusive Pod Drive partnerships with a number of leading businesses including Uber, Tesco, EDF and car manufacturers such as Nissan, demonstrating the appeal of a home EV charging subscription to their customers.
*With Pod Drive customers get a 7kW Solo 3S tethered unit (RRP £1,049) as well as a surge protection device included (additional £100 cost to add this upfront).
**How ‘smart charging’ works:
- Customers plug in normally at home, allowing Pod to “smart charge” their vehicles to meet a target charge level by a specified time, e.g. 100% by 7am.
- Customers pay their energy bill as usual with their chosen energy provider, as well as their Pod Drive subscription.
- Pod then provides cashback to customers to cover “smart-charged” miles at a rate of 2.3p per mile, rewarding drivers with as much as 7,500 miles per year, worth over £170.
